Winter Salmon Fishing is in full swing in Vancouver and Sidney
November was an exciting month from a weather and fishing perspective. We chose our weather windows between the fall storms and found some nice winter chinook salmon. It looks like it is going to be another good winter of salmon fishing. The weather has now stabilized and we are really looking forward to winter chinook salmon fishing in Vancouver and Sidney as it is one of our favourite fisheries of the year!!In Vancouver, we have been focussing our efforts in Howe Sound and right in Vancouver Harbour. Most of the keepers have been in the 7 to 12 pound range. We have been dropping some crab and prawn traps on some of our trips. Results have been mixed. We expect the trapping results to improve as we get into January. We have been running a mix of spoons and hootchies on our Vancouver based fishing charters.
In Sidney, winter chinook salmon fishing has been pretty solid since October. Sidney, is our Vancouver Island location. It is a good spot for targeting winter chinook as many of our fishing spots are within a mile or two of our dock location at the Port Sidney Marina. Coal Island, Sidney Island, Saanich Inlet and Moresby Island are all good winter bets! If you are visiting the island this winter, Sidney is worth a winter salmon fishing trip.
We are open around the Christmas Holidays if you want to get out on the water!!
