October Fishing Report - Vancouver and Sidney

The last few weeks have been classic fall weather and classic fall fishing!    We have enjoyed some spectacular calm days on the water and some big bites as per usual this time of year.   We have seen decent numbers of fish, and some big ones in the mix!   We are looking forward to the coming weeks as we target some late running mature chinook and coho and the first "winter chinook" of the year.

In Vancouver, we have been focusing our efforts in Vancouver Harbour and the Mouth of the Fraser targeting large, returning chinook salmon.    We have had good numbers of fish fish back to the dock in the 10 to 20 pound range.    We have also had some fish in the 30 and 40 pound range!      September and  October consistently deliver some of the biggest bites of the year.     As October progresses, we will shift our focus to winter chinook and late running coho salmon, especially as we get in to late October.

In Sidney, we have been targeting winter chinook primarily.   We have been successful on most trips, with some nice 7 to 14 pound winter chinook hitting the deck.   For the next couple months, we will be looking for early winter chinook salmon and some late coho salmon.  Wild coho retention is open in some areas around Sidney.

We are open year round.   Give us a call if you are interested in targeting the last returning fish of the year or keen to look for winter chinook salmon!
