When we first started Bon Chovy Fishing Charters in 2005, we just wanted a way to get on the water as much as we could!   We bought a boat, did a few charters, and soon realized we were on to something!   

In successive years, we built up our reputation, business and our fleet. In 2025, we are one of  the biggest fishing charter companies in Vancouver, BC!  We have top of the line guide boats, with top notch Yamaha and Mercury outboatds!  We are committed to our clients and  committed to salmon conservation.  We are leaders in salmon conservation and research in the sport fishing industry.


Our objective is simple. We aim to be the best in Vancouver's local salmon fishing. Our experience and enthusiasm will do just that. We take pride in every piece of bait we put down. We are not just another cruise; we take our job seriously. Our aim is to make our trips fun and the fishing productive. Our attention to detail while fishing and in customer service is what sets us apart from the others.  Our guide team is comprised of some of the most experienced salmon fishing guides in British Columbia.

About The Company 

Owner Operator - Jason Assonitis

Bon Chovy Fishing Charters was spawned by the passion for Vancouver's local salmon fishery by the principal of the company.  Jason Assonitis has been been avid saltwater fishermen since a young age.   The enthusiasm for the sport of fishing and the natural environment is what guarantees guests a first class fishing experience.   Jason has been a full time saltwater guide since he was a teenager in the 1990s.  He has logged thousands of days on the water guiding and is one of the most experienced salmon fishing guides in British Columbia.

Head Guide:   Dimitri Roussanidis

Dimitri is known to be one of the fishiest guys around!    Only in his mid 30s, he has a lifetime of experience fishing Vancouver area waters, the West Coast and  Haida Gwaii.   He is also a top rod when the fishing the rivers for salmon and steelhead.  Bon Chovy is fortunate to have him as one of our top Vancouver Fishing Guides and once you get on the boat with him, you will know why!

Manager and Guide -  Jacob Hopkins

There are few people with jobs as unique as Jacob's.   With Bonchovy since February of 22, Jacob's role is a perfect combination of his passion for salmon fishing and his education background in business.  Jacob enjoys working with clients throughout the booking process to ensure each and every trip creates memories to last a lifetime. We are lucky to have Jacob as a key piece of our team.  Jacob now resides in Victoria, so you will see him on the water at both our Vancouver and Sidney locations.
