Fall Fishing Report - Winter Chinook Fishing Has Begun!
It looks like we are off to another good start to our winter chinook season! We have been having success in Howe Sound and the Gulf Island's with some nice fish up to 15 pounds landed. Looking forward to getting the heaters fired up and enjoying our favourite fishery of the year, winter salmon fishing! In Vancouver, we have been spending most of our time fishing in Howe Sound for winter chinook. The first two weeks had a good ratio of legal to undersized, but the last week has seen more undersized in the mix. Most days we have been getting 3 to 6 chances at winter chinook salmon, not too shabby for fall! The scenery in the winter is worth the trip alone!
From our Sidney location, we have been finding some winter chinook as well. We have spent most of our time around Moresby, Coal, and Sidney Island's. We had some very good winter salmon fishing in the Sidney area last November. Hoping for a repeat performance!
In Howe Sound we have been running spoons and hootchies . We have had our best success on smaller spoons. Our top producers have been the 3.0 Trailhead and Bon Chovy G Force as well as Skinny Gs, especially the Outfitter. Our favourite Yamashita Spackleback hootchies have been working as always! In Sidney, little Coho Killers and Wee Gees have been the ones we have been using.
Give us a call or an email to get out fishing in Vancouver or fishing in Sidney this winter. All of our boats have heaters to take the chill off if needed!
