Big Fish in Sidney! Winter Chinook Report for the Southern Gulf Island's

The last few weeks have provided us with some very stable and calm weather.    We have been getting out a few times a week, and each outing we seem to be hooking a very nice fish, or two, or three!    We have had a number of fish in the mid teens recently, and we have heard of a few into the 20s.

Like most winter fishing, there are often good numbers of smaller 3 to 7 pound fish around.    This year is no different, except that every 10th bite or so seems to be a big fish in the 12 to 18 pound range.   Definitely makes for some exciting fishing as you never know what fish is going to bite next!     We have been fishing around Moresby Island, Saanich Inlet, Satellite and Sidney Channel.    Little Spoons are definitely the way to go with the Irish Cream Coho Killer and a Bon Chovy Wee Gee being top producers!

Sidney is a great place to do some winter salmon fishing!   Our Sidney and Gulf Island Fishing Charters are fortunate to have a wide variety of water to fish.   There is virtually always somewhere to fish, even if the wind is up as we have nice protected waters.

If you are looking at doing a trip and you need accommodation, the Sidney Pier Hotel is right beside our 30 foot Grady White moored at Port Sidney Marina.    We can also do pick ups from Saltspring, Galiano, Mayne, and Pender Island's!

Prawning has also been quite good in Area 18.   We have been dropping traps on some of our charters and been impressed on most drops!!  Come out on our heated, comfortable big Grady White in Sidney.    Our boat is only 5 minutes from the Victoria International Airport!
