Spring Fishing in the Salish Sea! Early April Fishing Report

Spring is finally here and we are happy to have the longer days and warmer temperatures!   We had a very good winter salmon season with only a couple slow periods.  In fact, this past winter was one of the best in the last 20 years.    The chinook salmon that supported our winter fishery are still here and even more widespread.   Despite the good fishing,  we are in a catch and release scenario for chinook salmon due to for the next few months.    We can still offer a great experience on the water catching chinook salmon and participating in some data collection as well!

Coho salmon will start showing up in local waters in June and they will be the first salmon that will be retainable in the coming months.  It is tough to say when and where they will show first, but there is a good chance some will show off the South End of Bowen Island in mid June.

Crabbing has picked up in Vancouver Harbour and we are dropping traps on most of our trips until the beginning of June.   Jericho, Stanley Park and West Vancouver are all good bets for crabbing.

This season we will be offering trips in Vancouver and out of Sidney on Vancouver Island.    If you have vacations planned on the Gulf Island's,  we can pick you up by boat!   Have a look at our Sidney Fishing Charter Page!   https://www.bonchovy.com/fishing-packages/sidney-vancouver-island-fishing-packages.html

Give us a call to get out on the water!   We are fishing in Vancouver and in Sidney on Vancouver Island!!
